Calgary is proud to host the 2018 North American Mas Wrestling championships this year during the Calgary Stampede. This is already shaping up to be a great event, with representation from across Canada, the United States, and Russia so far. This is a spectator oriented event, with the contest taking place outside on the crowded pedestrian only Stephen Ave to demonstrate Mas Wrestling and Yakutian culture to Calgary!
This contest will be running in conjunction to a strongman contest, to be announced next week.
Weight Divisions are subject to signups, but given sufficient numbers the IMWF Classes are:
Women
55kg
65kg
75kg
75kg+
Men
U80kg
U90kg
U105kg
U125kg
125kg+
Weight categories with 2 or less athletes merged with next higher weight category; weight categories with 3-5 athletes conducted in Round Robin format; and weight categories with 6 or more athletes conducted in a Double Elimination format to be determined based on number of athletes competing in a weight category.
